Speaker: Carlos Gutierrez (IBI Group)
Abstract: The field of urban mobility is evolving rapidly, with new modes of travel like dockless vehicles, on-demand ride-hailing, and demand-responsive microtransit forcing a reckoning among transit planners and policy makers alike. With an increasingly connected and complex mobility ecosystem, modeling and computational science are as critical as ever to the ongoing pursuit of making urban travel better. In his presentation, Mr. Gutierrez-de-Quevedo will give an overview of the current field, including new fields of development, and will then explain how modelling and computational science are helping to shape the future of mobility.
Carlos Gutierrez-de-Quevedo works at IBI Group, an internationally renowned professional consulting company, where he is an urban mobility expert. He holds a M.Sc. in Transportation from MIT, supplemented by international experience in planning and policy, infrastructure, operations, analytics, and technology projects. He is currently the Lead Advisor for the Metrolinx future Union Station Bus Terminal and for the Terminal Management System for dynamic platform allocation that will be used.
