This talk will be focused on methods to build preclinical 3D computerized heart models that are parametrized from MR imaging and electrical mapping data. The anatomical models are histologically validated and also integrate fiber directions into heart meshes to account for myocardial tissue anisotropy. In particular, we are interested in 3D heart models coupled with fast computational algorithms (clinically tractable) that can simulate the propagation of the cardiac electrical impulse in less than a few minutes and predict the inducibility of abnormal heart rhythms. We envision that these image-based models will improve the diagnosis and therapy outcome of malignant arrhythmia in patients who suffered a heart attack and developed chronic infarct scars.
