In the discipline of Applied Mathematics, summer is research season and for this first seminar of the term I will give a brief survey of three problems of contemporary interest. The focus of the talk will be on the diversity of the problems and the process of determining an appropriate model. The key is embrace the complexity of the problem without losing track of the goal to provide deep insight by stakeholders that are outside of Applied Mathematics.
